Should I worry about having Absente alcohol drinks?

My friends have brought back a few bottles of Absente alcohol drinks from France and are having an Absente party this weekend before we hit some Night Clubs. I have heard some scary things about Absente, like People have hallucinogenic trips like dropping Acid!
Is that true?
