How does a small business with nearly no funds get traffic to their site? I just opened Diamond T Design for business in Jan 2017. I am not getting enough traffic or business to pay the bills. I know you have all been there and I would love to get some good advice.
I have a site that is free of advertising, very easy to navigate, is very attractive, and is free to all who use it. So, I am in no position to pay for advertising. However, I've had good luck, and come up on the first page of many search engines such as Google, Yahoo, etc. What I do is free search engine submissions. I've tried both doing it one at a time by hand, and also using some submission sites that do a number of them all at once. Mostly I like to do the submissions myself, by hand but it takes time. That I have a lot more of than money! My site traffic grows steadily. It keeps me busy and I couldn't take care of much more by myself, so I'm happy.
If you have Millions of Dollars, aka are Wall Street backed, you goto Google.
OTOH, if you are like 99.99% of businesses, which means are not Wall Street backed, and you have few $100 per Month for Advertising, then you Advertise on Anoox, since it is the only non-profit Search Engine / Social Network. Also by helping other members here on Anoox, you can get free Traffic, based on other members liking what you have shared. So please give my comment a Thumbs up :)
Backlinks are a good way to get traffic but quality is better than quantity. a single backlink on a PR5 website is worth about 300 poor quality backlinks. There are some genuine free back link services which give you quality backlinks. Im not sure if im allowed to post links here so I wont but search Google. Dont use any sites which look cheap and tacky which are full of ads and offer thousands of backlinks. Go with the professional looking sites which offer less back links. within 2 weeks you can get 10 quality backlinks and thousands of lesser quality backlinks. Good quality backlinks are the ones which improves your indexing and search engine presence. Poor quality backlinks can hinder you so steer clear of the "1000 FREE back links" websites unless they list the domains which will be linking to you so you can check their quality first.
You can also buy targetted traffic on SEO sites that offer services. I had great success with a few programs on MB and the pricing is good, for just an individual or even a business. So far it's worked great for me, spin my site known as interwebs advertising is my favorite and cheapest service, https://a.monsterbacklinks.com/linkin/565051/Traffic/384777/100K-Web-Traffic-To-Your-Website-Blog-or-Affiliate-Link
Put your URL everywhere you contribute. It never hurts. Usually in the signature, such as

Another venue that may pay your rent is Amazon.com. Whatever you sell, try your luck in the biggest store in the west world. For physical stuff, Market Place is great. For software, their App Store does great for Windows and Android. Don't forget to submit each of your amazon pages to such a submission site as
It is through them I discovered Anoox.
They say built it, and they'll come. That was the case in 1996 when I started. Now you got to elbow with millions of other sites. It requires efforts to be seen.
Peddle your stuff everywhere you go. You never know. Make Facebook page. Participate in well known Tweet channels related to what you sell.
