What do you think about Affiliate marketing?

Today there is a struggle between people who believe affiliate marketing it's better than being a publisher of paid campaings(AdSense, etc.). I think it's better to promote products and win commissions from every sale that we made than being allways displaying ads in our websites. What do you think about it??
