According to the Fraser Institute, a Canadian public policy think tank, approximately 52,513 Canadians received non-emergency medical treatment in the U.S. and other countries in 2014, a 25 percent jump from the roughly 41,838 who sought medical care abroad the previous year.
British government data shows the number of people going abroad for healthcare increased from 48,000 in 2014 to almost 144,000 in 2016, as the health service struggles to cope with demand.
Medigo.com, which provides medical travel advice, said enquiries from Britons had more than trebled in the last six months, which could mean that at least 190,000 are planning to travel abroad.
How Useful is NHS Today? Lets see, it costs $30,000 on average to give Vaginal birth in USA and $50,000 to give Ceserian birth, and this is IF you have typical Health insurance in USA. While in UK and Countries like UK where they have Socialized Universal Healthcare (aka NHS), it is either FREE or 99% less, to give birth. eg:
Of course you are a Republican lunatic so these Truth in this regard you do not seek but lies spewed at you by Wall Street based Media resulting in USA lacking something as basic and necessary as NHS. So what People need to realize, Wall Street based Media that has resulted in USA lacking something as basic and necessary as NHS is not just the right-wing lying Machines of Fox, CNBC, etc. but Wall Street based Media also includes Google, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc. just these Internet based Wall Street based Media control the Info, aka lie, in new ways compared to old Media. e.g:
So thanks GOD for this Anoox that lets us get the Truth out 😱
As a British citizen I can tell you that NHS is absolutely vital to Today life. And in fact even the Conservative party in UK is 100% behind our Government run socialized health care, NHS, where everyone gets health care free for Taxes we pay. So no one has to be under Terror of either not having health care or going bankrupt due to health care costs as Millions of Americans do each year. In fact any civilized modern Country realizes that NHS is as essential to well being of a country as having free Military, Fire Dept, etc. for Taxes people pay. So only an American Psycho would ask such an asinine question to imply that NHS is something but great.
Well this is one of top debating topic in world and The NHS is currently facing the biggest challenge in its existence due to some major changes in offering their services to people and recently I read news that stop Brexit if you want to save the NHS and get free medical treatment. There too much controversy happening in the current situation.
So as others have noted as per numbers you have provided yourself this means that 99.99%+ of Britons and Canadians get their Healthcare from their Socialized health system. Now to really see why Single payer Socialized health (NHS) is the best way to run health services of a Country consider what is happening to small businesses such as mine in USA vs small businesses in countries with NHS. Here in USA I as a small businesses have to pay Medicare Taxes but on top of that I have to buy exorbitant Health insurance for my employees which Health insurance is going up Year after Year while giving my employees less and less care/value due to ever higher deductibles and co-pays WHILE in Countries with NHS they pay their Medicare Taxes and for these Taxes their employees get Healthcare so they DO NOT have to buy Health insurance, which means they have an unfair Advantage over us small businesses in USA. Damn you Republican traitors :(
Assuming this number is even True, that proves the fact that NHS is the only way to run Healthcare of a Country, since that means that 99.99% of Brits did not go abroad for healthcare and instead got it for FREE at home for having Universal Socialized healthcare (NHS).
2nd, even that tiny number of Brits going abroad for healthcare can be explained by: people who went outside Britain such as to Romania to get plastic surgery such as Breast Augmentation, at much lower cost than in UK, which of course as a cosmetic surgery is not and should not be covered by NHS.
