When Adam and Eve were in the garden of Eden, God commanded them thus "of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt "surely" die Gen 2:17." but when they ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they appeared to be very much alive, conscious and aware of their previously concealed nakedness. In fact, they could still hear God and respond to His questions and we all know that dead people cant hear or respond to questions. So my questions are Did God lie when He told Adam and Eve that they would die if they ate of the fruit of the forbidden tree? , did He intentionally mislead them into thinking that they would die if they ate from the forbidden fruit in order to prevent them from having their eyes open and becoming god like just like the serpent suggested? Your answers are appreciated.
