I have been toying with the idea to take bitcoins for a while, without ever actually doing it. After all, if people have money in hand, I would like to take it.

My main hurdle is the need to deliver software with a solution equivalent to Paypal IPN. So far the best pointer I found is https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_accept_Bitcoin,_for_small_businesses where several merchant services are listed.

I have no idea how many customers would buy at my sites because I accept bitcoin. But after all, anything is good that pleases customers, if it does not cost too much.

Until now I have taken Paypal but I am also exploring Amazon Payments, as a means to comfort customers in trusting my site. The more ways to accept payments the merrier.

All that to say, don't listen to psycho rigid commentaries posted below. Tons of opinionated people that not only do not answer your question, but visibly have no idea what a business is about.

I agree with your point: the more ways to accept payments the merrier.
But there are 2 Killer problems with Bit Coin:
1- 99.99% of Merchants do not accept Bitcoin, I do not know any Bank which will accept
Bitcoin

2- Governments World Wide can at any time declare it totally illegal and unacceptable.
And since NO Government is behind Bitcoin, then this will leave Bitcoin holders with ZERO

I am not too sure of your 99.99% statistic which is probably made up, but if indeed not
many merchants accept Bitcoin, it does not mean there are not many potential customers who
would prefer my shop because I take Bitcoin.

The ban is very doubtful. There are other private currencies, not necessarily digital.
Bitcoin is already worldwide. A US ban is not probable. Who cares if is banned in
Macedonia or Serbia ?

Well 1st I totally agree with the fact that we need alt methods of payment to Visa, MC &
AMEX MONOPOLY over online payment. And to be more exact to the horrible that Payment
processors are offering, the ones I have seen, in handling Merchant accounts. I wish
Bitcoin was the answer, but it is a Gimmick Joke at worse until major Central Banks in US,
EU, China, etc. accept it.

You adopt a geopolitics perspective. I have a merchant perspective. Bitcoin is not
intrinsically different from, say, American Express travel checks. Like the BitCoin, they
are a private currency, which is not recognized by countries central banks, but yet, they
have a legal existence through contractual agreement.

Gift cards and store coupons are another form of private currency.

" Bitcoin is INDEED intrinsically different from, say, American Express travel checks.."
because AMEX is accepted at 100% of all locations World Wide, whereas Bitcoin is accepted
at maybe 0.01% of Merchants.

I am not talking about where it is accepted. My point is that a private currency does not
have to be sanctioned by a country to exist.

Long ago when credit cards started, they were pretty much anecdotal as well. Something
new will necessarily be kind of rare. Now, I'll let you argue with someone else. This
discussion is reaching the pointless stage.

I think Bitcoin is pretty much a SCAM.
Here is why:

1- For a currency to be actually a currency, Merchants need to be accepting it, Banks need to be accepting it, etc. HOWEVER 99.99% of Merchants do not accept Bitcoin, I do not know any Bank which will accept Bitcoin

2- Governments World Wide can at any time declare it totally illegal and unacceptable. And since NO Government is behind Bitcoin, then this will leave Bitcoin holders with ZERO

Overstock accepts bitcoin directly and I can purchase from over 1000+ merchants.
Microsoft, steam and many more. Money is just an item or record of payment for goods and
services and a currency is just a system of money in use. Bitcoin is both. Your second
point is also very untrue, many countries stressed they have no issues with bitcoin and
some have even declared bitcoin a national currency. If they wanted it banned they've
already done so.

Nobody has to accept or use bitcoin if they don't want to. Nobody is forcing anyone's
hand. But the fact that this is even a discussion proves bitcoin is a threat and is direct
competition with the fiat markets. More people are learning about it everyday and I'm just
happy with how far it's come.

Well slick it's went as far as it's going to go. Nobody is going to use underground
decentralized money across the globe as daily transaction. Besides that point your market
cap is way to small. Your hands are tied and your security sucks. Your hacked every time
you turn around. I had Bitcoin and it was hacked! Gone! Terrorist use Bitcoin. Your
price fluctuates so much people cannot trust it for daily use because your market is not
stable and will never be because you are decentralized.

Merchants typically accept bitcoin because its zero to one percent transaction fee is smaller than the two to five percent credit card fee. It is definitely more profitable than accepting most major credit cards because with bitcoin you can start accepting once you download the application software for you company. It also allows you to sell internationally at a low cost, and it allows for one exchange rate across the world. I would suggest you stay away from other digital currencies unless you decide to use a service that will automatically trade them for BTC like shapeshift.io integration. Your only major worry should be the value assigned to your bitcoins when you exchange them for cash. They tend to fluctuate daily, and assigning a value to bitcoin depends on the exchange rate for your country of origin and your buyer’s country of origin. So when deciding if bitcoin is right for your small business, make sure you also decide if you will hold them or trade them for cash right away

What! 99.99% of Merchants do not accept Bitcoin.
That makes Bitcoin not much of a currency! And hence who cares they have a low
transaction fee.

You know what we really need, is the European Union to get behind alternatives to
Visa/MC Monopolies and require such new Card processor to have no more than 1% processing
fee.

Tons of online merchants accept bitcoin or have some type of bitcoin integrated payment
system, I've never have trouble spending mine. I can use just about any service I can
think of and have cash deposited right into my bank account lol. Plus, it doesn't really
matter what you think, people will continue to use bitcoin regardless to how ignorant you
are when it comes to the market. On that note, good luck with your paper currency that
continues to be devalued.

I'm with OneCoin not Bitcoin but I would encourage you to educate yourself what is
happening as you are actually talking about it. Digital currency and blockchain
technology is here. It is not going away. It's all in the process now as USA is looking
at Bitcoin seriously as a currency. Bitcoin is decentralized. OneCoin is centralize and
setting up to be the world reserve digital currency with the largest blockchain market cap
in the world at 120 billion. Opinions don't matter. Done.

Buddy you can keep putting out your scam ad bullshit but it's just that. It's pretty
comical at this point as we're signing up over 200,000 people worldwide every month. Keep
up the work, as OneCoin becomes to Bitcoin as Facebook become to MySpace and Google become
to Yahoo. I can hook you up my friend or you can lose out just like I did with Bitcoin
because Bitcoin was called a scam just like you calling OneCoin a scam. Get ready, it's
coming and you know it. Thanks for your support.

year. So why don't you tell me all about OneCoin hero. You don't know the first thing but
your little scam links and bullshit articles from people just like you. I can debunk one
by one just as soon as you want to get started. Keep on believeing that bs and keep
watching what we are doing according to what you like to say we are doing. Your are a

up more members in the last two months worldwide than Bitcoin has acquired in 8 years.
Get out of here. Your not even a good nuisance. Your internet horse shit ain't working.

Ok sir lol. Onecoin offers absolutely nothing in terms of innovation. It's a worthless
coin and that not my fault. It's not my fault that you aren't making any money and you
have to spam comments to beg people to sign up for your scam. The question was about
Bitcoin not some random shitcoin you're trying to hype. Keep trying maybe you'll find
someone will fall for it just not me.

Look punkass. I have took one company public just like OneCoin is going public by
building a customer and vendor base though network marketing before we go public. I make
more money a month than you will make all year. If you would like to get your head out of
your ass I could show you how to do the same. But you are to ignorant to even learn what
OneCoin is doing because you're brain washed with the bs that Bitcoin losers just like you
put out. You keep putting your scam ads out.

I don't know what Bitcoin rock you have been hiding under but OneCoin has 5 people in the
top ten money earners in the home based business in the world and 10 in the top twenty
five after only 24 months. I've been in network marketing 25 years and have never seen
the top ten move very little. OneCoin owes it now. Yes sir one hell of a scam with 2.7
million people worldwide in 204 countries. Now take your stupid ass to bed. P.S. A little

I'm simply trying to explain to you that onecoin has no future in any financial market.
Many coins like ETH, DASH, ZCASH and of course Bitcoin are on a completely different
levels as far as innovation and what they have to offer in terms of advancement. Onecoin
just a regular old altcoin sir, and not even a good one at that. You should listen to what
I'm saying and do some real research. You're are uneducated

Its the same old scam its just a cryptocurrency scam. Build a a nice looking website. Get
people to buy into the ponzi scheme and then shut down the website when nobody is buying
in anymore. They have their own exchange and that's the only place you can sell onecoin,
how convenient. So your only exchange is run by them and they can shut it down whenever
they want. But you won't care because you've already scammed enough people by then. Then
you'll just move on to the next bullshit scheme.

Why do you have to pay to use onecoin? If your shitcoin is so great then why do people
have to pay for fake tokens that can't be traded anywhere accept on your shitcoin
exchange. You don't have to pay to join bitcoin, its open to the public and so is the
source code. People like you are so stupid and you just don't know any better. Nobody with
a brain would join, it's completely worthless and they could just buy bitcoin whenever
they wanted. You prey on the uneducated who know nothing about it.

Your claiming that unbiased articles are "scam ads" and your saying words like
decentralized and you have no fucking idea what you're talking about. A great example of
why bitcoin get's a bad rap because shitcoin scams are built around it. You know nothing
about blockchain and you think this coin is competition with real coins and it's not in
the same league. Good luck with onecoin website sir. You have no coins and if you do
they're sitting on someone else's site waiting to be stolen/destroyed.

I am involved with OneCoin not Bitcoin. But digital currency gives you the opportunity to pay each other direct without the middle man with their hands stuck out and charging you for the transaction. Also, get around the charge for using credit or debit card. The set up for OneCoin is simple. OneCoin is now setting up vendors all around the world to accept OneCoin as we have a goal to be public in 17 months. You can email me at bconecoin@gmail.com for more details.

The fact of the matter is that we desperately need alternative methods of payment and
getting paid as Merchants compared to the Monopoly of Visa/Mastercard. But I am afraid
that Bitcoin is the not the answer since one cannot convert it readily into cash for
deposit into ones account to pay bills.
And on top of that only 0.001% of merchants accept Bitcoin. And this OneCoin, well
their Web site does not even load!

Are you a bitcoin user? I assume not because if you were you would know how easy it is to
convert BTC to cash. Physical merchants yes, very little accept Bitcoin. However, close to
%70 of online merchants accept Bitcoin so it's very easy to buy goods, which is where most
people shop these days. Even Amazon, ebay, overstock and gift merchants have Bitcoin
payment processor's. So not only is it very easy to have cash deposited into your account
but it's very easy to buy goods.

The purpose of Bitcoin is peer to peer transactions, Bitcoin is it's own central bank. Any
real Bitcoin enthusiast has no interest in trading for cash, it's about spend ability,
which can easily match that of any payment system. You don't understand because you're
only focused on this fiat system which is why you are a slave to it. It's all starts with
people, not big business.

Did you actually say that:
"However, close to %70 of online merchants accept Bitcoin"
That is non-sense. Even 0.7% of online merchants do NOT accept Bitcoin.
Does Google Advertising accept Bitcoin? NO.
Does Facebook Advertising accept Bitcoin? NO.
Does Anoox Advertising accept Bitcoin? NO.
etc. etc.
Does Amazon Advertising accept Bitcoin? NO.
Does Lowes Advertising accept Bitcoin? NO.

Here about Amzon you mentioned that does:

So what makes Bitcoin a total JOKE, a total SCAM is what you said:
"Bitcoin is it's own central bank"
This means Zipo, since for a Central Bank to have any value other Central Banks around
the World need to accept it, and NO Nations Central Banks, that is NOT US Fed, Not ECB,
Not China Central Bank, etc. recognize Bitcoin central bank.
So Bitcoin central bank can give as much value to a currency as Me or You could by
launching our own central bank. Which is Big FAT ZERO.
