Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground. Exo 3:5
Did God ask Moses to take off his sandals simply because they were too filthy to stand on the holy ground? Or did He ask Him to take them off because sandals are forbidden on sanctified/holy grounds? Or is there a deeper significance to taking off shoes on holy grounds? Your answers are appreciated.
