Much meaningless rhetoric continues to threaten the legitimacy of otherwise valid discussions because there is no mutual agreement on key facets of terminology. Terms by which people readily identify themselves & others are too rarely accurate. So-called 'Liberals' argue against 'Conservatives', "Democrats' against 'Republicans', 'Christians' debate 'Muslims' & 'Jews', etc. All the while, very few commentators are fully legitimate representatives of claimed affiliations. Such lack of authenticity causes confusion among opponents of any particular conviction, forcing many to assume as fact, things NEVER supported by appropriate evidence. People reluctantly avoid confrontations with these hypocrites, fearing there can be no civil mutual agreement possible. In the name of 'tolerance' many are forced to become passive, rather than freely exercising their rights. Political 'correctness' now attempts to declare the rights of a chosen few over long established rights mutually agreed upon by an over-whelming majority. Those who dare to cry 'foul' are considered lunatics. Can anyone see?
