Lets consider these points first:
1. Taxi drivers in most States have requirements for the cleanliness, age of vehicle, rates are set and are required by law to carry commercial insurance at all times. They also, go through extensive background checks from the FBI, fingerprints on file with the police, DMV licensing reviews and have to pay extra for what is called "FOR HIRE" status. Plus, Taxi drivers vehicles have to go through extra inspections, by the police.
2. Uber drivers, random people off the streets, only get minimum screen background checks, regular insurance for their own vehicles that they are driving, minimum rules and regulations, they DO NOT have set rates! Certain times of the day, they go from a low rate to an increasing high rate, especially on the week-ends! Do not have extra inspections for their vehicles. These drivers are not registered with the police. AND above all, YOU DO NOT KNOW WHO YOU ARE RIDING WITH.
