Do you think Traditional Chinese medicine works?

The history of Chinese medicine begins about the second century BC because there are no clear records of medical techniques that are older that. There exist written descriptions about disease from the Shang Dynasty era (1600-1046 BC), but there isnโ€™t a record of their medical techniques.

The first clear medical treatise is the Yellow Emperor. In the text, the use of moxibustion or acupuncture to manipulate the Yin and Yang are described in ways similar to that practiced nowadays. This and later texts covered a variety of techniques based on traditional physical concepts, but now traditional medicine has a secondary role in China compared to Western medicine.

So what I want to ask you, in your personal experience, have you found Traditional Chinese medicine working?

Absolutely!

After trying dozens of Western prescription and over the counter drugs for the pain I was experiencing in my back with 2 ruptured discs, I decided that experimenting with Traditional Chinese medicine was worth a try.

After my first acupuncture session I had immediate relief and after about 15 sessions, spread a few days apart, I had felt 95% better. It's been 5 years now since my accident and I feel great and only drink some all natural Chinese herbal teas to keep any inflammation from acting up. - allinoneorganics.com

How much did you pay for the acupuncture sessions?
And does the Social Healthcare system in Canada pay for acupuncture sessions?

Absolutely! After having 2 herniated discs in my back and trying dozens of prescription and on the shelf meds to reduce the inflammation, nothing had seemed to work when it came to Western medicine so I tried a few traditional Chinese methods.

The results first from a Chinese acupuncturist were immediate and after about 15 sessions, I felt as if 90% of my pain was gone. It's been 5 years now and aside from drinking natural herbal Chinese tea that lowers inflammation, i don't take anything else and i feel great! - allinoneorganics.com

Qigong, pronounced chee-gong, is the art and science of using breath, movement, self-massage, and meditation to cleanse, strengthen, and circulate vital life energy and blood. In India the comparable practice is called yoga. Both of these traditions of self-healing have been called "moving meditation" or "meditation in motion." T'ai Chi, which is familiar to many Americans, is a more physical form of qigong. In China, millions of people from children to workers, to elders, to patients in the hospital practice qigong daily. The techniques are easy to learn and simple to apply for people who are well or sick. Qigong decreases fatigue and forgetfulness and generates energy by enhancing bodily functions

Dear Friends,
Acupuncture and oriental medicine belong in the Middle Ages, not in modern health care. We know acupuncture doesnโ€™t work. And while some of the herbs used in oriental medicine may work, we canโ€™t know that until they go through properly conducted drug trials. Licensing acupuncturists and oriental medicine practitioners and giving them the right to โ€œdiagnose,โ€ โ€œpreventโ€ and โ€œcureโ€ disease and to employ other nonsensical โ€œCAMโ€ practices and products is most certainly not in the best interest of the publicโ€™s health, safety and welfare. Unfortunately, the problem is only getting worse as acupuncture schools crank out more graduates who then get their state licenses and go into practice.

Dont be so fast to dismiss something that you do not quite grasp.
Since Acupuncture is not based on Modern medicine.

Acupuncture is one of the most widely used methods of alternative medicine. Despite great advances in scientific knowledge, however, it is still performed as a mystical ritual explained in pre-scientific terms of hypothesized meridians, Qi, Yin/Yang and pulse diagnosis. The Biology of Acupuncture provides a scientifically supported explanation of the basic biological mechanisms and processes underlying the practice of traditional Chinese acupuncture.

Ossena, in answer to your question, that:
how do you know that the person who is practicing Chinese Acupuncture is doing it right?

https://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/bait-and-switch-acupuncture-studies/

The short answer is, you really cant since there is still no uniform regulation about this matter and people who can practice it.

I think the answer is overall Yes.
Although I do not have personal experience with Chinese Medicine, I know cases where it has definitely worked. One great example is the cure for Malaria which a Chinese lady found the cure for based on Traditional Chinese medicine, under the order of the Chinese Government, to provide this Cure to North Vietnamese whose soldiers were dying at a great rate from Malaria than US Bombing of North Vietnam. For which she was finally this Year awarded the Nobe Prize for Medicine,

exexvina1974, I 2 found what you have wrote to be amazing at 1st. But then some searching showed it to be real! WOW indeed. Here:

"Nobel Prize winner Tu Youyou helped by ancient Chinese remedy
Tu Youyou has become the first Chinese woman to win a Nobel Prize, for her work in helping to create an anti-malaria medicine. The 84-year-old's route to the honour has been anything but traditional."
