What scriptures can we find to support the idea of an immortal soul?

This doctrine is widely taught in churches, but turning to the Bible, I am having trouble corroborating it. Surely, the choice facing us is life or death, as it says:
[Rom 6:23 KJV] 23 For the wages of sin [is] death; but the gift of God [is] eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

I have searched for the terms "immortal soul" and "eternal soul" and they don't exist in Scripture.

Can anyone suggest where the proof for this doctrine can be found?
