What are some good multi-player Game/Puzzle sites?

Hey,
I am looking for online Game & Puzzle sites where one can play games like Backgammon, Chess, etc. with other people. Do you know which sites would allow one to do that?

To be exact, I am not interested in Shootem up and Killing sites like Doom, etc. but basically games like Backgammon, Chess, etc.

I would not mind paying a monthly subscription fee. Of course free would be better, but dont mind paying up to $29 per Month.
