Are all (Apartment) listings on Craigslist SCAM?

I was just SCAMMED by an Apartment listing on Craigslist
for $1500 :( And a quick search online shows me that many others have had this same SCAM happen to them :(

How can Craigslist People allow so much, if not all the Apartment listing on their site to be SCAM and FRAUD?
Dont they have a responsibility to the Public to at least make a serious effort to block these SCAMmers?

What can I do if any to get my Money recovered?
FYI: People I sent the money to are in Nigeria now I find out so that money I am sure is as good as gone :(
