How much Alcohol drinking per day is Healthy?

We all know that too much Alcohol drinking is bad and can literally kill you. This question is not about that.
This question is how much Alcohol can a person drink per day which is actually Healthy for them?
I am referring to the fact that there have been many studies that People, such as French people in general, whom drink a certain amount of Red Wine per day are Healthier and live longer.

So my question is given a person weight, such as me being about 150Lbs, how much Alcohol drinks per day beside being OK is actually Healthier for you than not drinking any?

By not drinking any alcohol is more healthier that drinking amount of it which you never know whether it harm your health or not.

Hi LavaGirl,
I now live in the Charente region of France, having spent many years working in New York City in Advertising ( a high stress career). I believe that moderate consumption of Red wine, and/or beer can be beneficial, and even help to relieve stress. But other factors like exercise, fitness levels,
and body weight — as you mention — should also be considered. So moderation is the key. Cheers!

Drinking on a regular basis, increasing their risk for both long term health problems such as neurological complications and elevated blood pressure. So it is advisable to avoid drinking alcohol. But if you are insist on to continue this habit, following are the recommended limit by the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism for a normally healthy person:

For men, it is maximum four drinks a day and the weekly limit is 14 drinks and for women, three drinks a day and the weekly limit is seven. You will be in safe limit if you can keep this.

Depending do you mean the spirits[hard stuff] or beer or wine. Doctors say that two drinks a day is okay for you and could be beneficial. But beyond that it could start to be bad for you.

I am a qualified Hypnotherapist by trade so this does come up a lot, every person is diferent some people can take more alcohol than others i think the individual knows when to stop drinking !!! You are right red wine is good for you but this does not mean you can drink bottle after bottle. One or two glasses on an evening is ok. People do think right i am going out for a drink and i am going to get drunk. You don't have to do this i went out with a group of people at christmas and every two drinks they all had a glass of water i asked why they were doing this thay all said we don't want to feel bad in the morning we have christmas shopping to do. To my suprise i thought what a good idea.

French wine comes in all types. When I was in France I loved the wine. I drink wine with certain meals. It is fun to get a little buzz with a good meal. Alcohol is OK to drink. Be careful to not drink too much. It is a drug and can become addictive.

Yes drinking alcohol in moderate amount can be good for your health, but it doesn't only depend on the quantity but also on the quality, and what type of alcoholic drink.
generally for health benefits wine and dark beer is preferable, (a glass of wine/day and 1 bottle of 330-500ml good quality dark beer/day)I have written more information on what type of beer is good and what benefits u can get from it, in my blog http://www.diethealthndrugs.com/2014/03/amazing-health-benefits-of-beer.html
There u can also find information on benefits from red wine.
About hard drinks, i won't be able to provide much information, but as far as i know they are generally not recommended everyday. Although 1 week ago i read about a new study on Takila which showed some of it's benefits in lowering cholesterol levels, but that study is still under more research.

hahaha...yes i'm living in Russia Volgograd..but apart from that i'm also a Doctor.
Me posting on alcohol benefits doesn't mean that i'm encouraging everyone on drinking, as it can be addictive and then it can be a really big problem.
So what i'm saying is, if u r already into drinking and dont want to leave, then better to know the limits and get something good out of this habbit.
As, nothing i say can change a persons opinion or drinking habbit, unless he/she is ready for it.

Physical and mental health is a direct result of one's inner well-being. I am familiar with the studies you refer to, but the things they measure have nothing to do with true health (such as heart attack rates or longevity). No study can know the quality of your inner well-being. Only we can know if we are healthy all the way through.
Except for rare circumstances, alcohol has no place in nourishing inner health. To need to drink on a regular basis is proof of inner disturbance... proof something needs to change inside or out in life. And to continue to drink is to attempt to avoid feeling what is inside one's heart, because achieving inner well-being requires far more efforts than most are ready to put forth, although it is worth every effort because the results are lasting.

I have read that for each 50 Kilos of weight that a person has then that person can drink 1 glass of Wine per day and be Healthy for it.

Oh, each Kilo I think is 2.2 Lbs, so that means like for each 110 Lbs.

Hello LavaGirl,
I can tell you from my own case and case of my family members. That we drink 1 bottle of Cabronet Savignion per day and are much healthier for it that people I know who do not. So given your weight I think you can attain a higher state of Health by drinking up to glasses of Cabronet Savignion per day. But the darn thing about drinking Alcohol is that you must not drink over your limit or else its health effect can quickly become death effects. After all if we drink too much Water, or too much Milk, or too much anything that becomes unhealthy to the point of killing you. So the key is drinking not above your limit.

Hum! That is very good observation that too much of anything can kill you, even too much of something as life necessary as Water. So it makes real clear sense that too much of Alcohol is not good for you either but some Alcohol can be a life saver too just as is Water. Ha. Really like that analogy. But must I only drink Cab Sav or can I drink Merlow or Zinfandel for same positive result?

In my opinion drinking alcohol is not advisable, whether in a small amount or more.
We have lot of other options such as fruit juice, tender coconut water,milk etc. So why you want to invite an enemy to home that may cost your peaceful life.No alcohol please.
