What can you do if you were scammed on Craigslist?

Last week I found out that I was scammed out of $2000 by an outfit on Craigslist that claimed they had a very nice Apartment for rent in London, when in fact it seems like they are a bunch of Fraudsters out of Nigeria or Gahana! To be exact I responded to an Apartment for rent in London that had all the nice Fotos and descriptions I was looking for. So I sent them $2000 as downpayment toward the rent of the Apt but once I got to London I found out that the Building owner had never heard of these guys :(
Oooooooh I am so mad :(

So what can I do in such situation?
Obviously I cannot go after the Scammers whom are in Nigeria or Gahana.
Can I go after Craigslist?
Has anyone been successful in suing them for allowing Scammers to advertise on their site?
