Is it a good idea to declaw my Cat and will she hate me?

My cat is just a ball of trouble, she keeps clawing the carpet, sofa, etc.
She is really sweet but crazy trouble at same time.
So i am thinking of de-clawing her.
Will she hate me for this?
Will she be in pain for a while?
How will she defend herself?
