NO, Google Page rank system is far from the "Majority of the Vote of the People
determining the ranking of listings" as is the case with AnooX.
To see why, lets look at the facts:
The Google Page Rank System works by counting the number of links to a Web page from other Web pages as
votes for that page by those other pages and the pages are then somehow ranked based on the number of
such links that they have received using secret Google algorithms. We say "something like
this" since there is no 100% clear & sure description from Google, regarding this issue.
So from what is known about the Google (Page Rank System), it is anything but a search engine where the real majority vote of the
people, like on AnooX, determines the search results, due to the following obvious reasons:
- No one can actually vote for the listings directly.
On Google you supposedly vote for another web page by proxy by linking to that web page via your web pages.
OTOH, on AnooX you simply click on the "Vote for this listing" button next to each listing and you will then instantly vote for that listing.
- No certainty or transparency in Votes given being taken into account.
Under Google method after you link to a Web page from your web pages, you have no idea whether it will be 15 days, or 15 months, before Google will, if ever, count
your linking to that web page as a vote for it.
OTOH, on AnooX when people Vote for a listing in a mere 15 minutes after they vote their vote is taken into account and the position of the voted listing is then accordingly moved up or down in the rankings based on all votes received in prior 15 minutes.
- No real controls for making sure that each person has only 1 Vote.
Under Google a person can set up 10s, 100s or even 1000s of web pages to link to a web site that they are interested in and thus fraudulently affect the rankings of listing on Google.
OTOH, on AnooX each voter can issue only One vote for a given listing under a given Keyword,
just as is the case in real democratic voting process where one can have only one vote for a given candidate.

Any one of the above points not being in place would render a Search Engine to
be anything but a system where the majority vote of the people determines the rankings of the listing,
set aside that all 3 of the above points are not in place, as is the case with Google or Yahoo.
