What is the best gift to buy a new Mother?

I was wondering what is the best gift idea for a new Mother that has just had a boy?

I mean I dont want to get her something that is useless or cheap, but something she can really use.
And up to $250 is my budget.

Hi there... I think a half day at a spa is a wonderful gift for a new mom, it gives her some much needed time to herself and to relax and be pampered, which she needs and deserves. Also she can usually choose the service or treatments she wishes to receive

Anything personalized with the baby's name is always a good gift (blankets, towels, stuffed toys, picture frames, books). No one ever throws away personalized item - these are something you keep forever! In addition to a personalized item, I also like to give the Bumbo, http://supermommy.livejournal.com/10109.html or the Hippychick Hipseat, http://supermommy.livejournal.com/2059.html , those are both items that most new moms don't know about, but end up loving! Note: I have two young boys (14 months, 3 1/2 years old). Happy Shopping. :-)

Did you already buy the baby a gift? Honestly speaking when you have a newborn all you can think about is them. I actually have a ton of spa vouchers, but don't have the time to go. If you get her a spa voucher make sure the spa is near to her house and has a long or no expiration date. :-)

No, i am going to by tomorrow. Since the baby shower is this Saturday. But herbalbox04 also had a great idea, which is to get her a Maid. Well i can afford the Maid Service. Ay, not an easy decision.

Hey there Sarah. A gift that I like to give to new moms is a kit to make the baby's footprints/handprints in 3d. It comes with a frame and you can choose the frame color, either having it white, black or natural. If you want I'll look up the name and give you a link to it.

I think ... a housekeeper is the most suitable gift for a new mother who has a baby. with the maid who worked through homework, the mother can focus on caring for her baby.

Yes, I think that would be the BEST idea. But I think well over my budget of $250 about. But maybe I can get her one of those Weekly Maid services for like 1 or 2 times. Also a good idea :)

get her a gift certificate to a spa or some other femaley-pampery tipe of place (not official term don't quote me on THAT) women ... are impressed by the jesture and consideration I've noticed, more than tangible value... (exceptions not witholding)

You have a very healthy budget to work with. Does the Mother have every she wants for the baby ? If she does, I am going to make some reccomendations:
1. Reward the mother for the job she has done bringing that little miracle into the world.
2. Gift Certificates are very appropiate.
a. Portrait Studio
b. Mini Vacation
c. Something new she would like for the home.
3. The possibilities go on and on.
4. A cash gift: get all $50 bills and find somebody that can them into "Bow Ties" for you.
5. And of course there is always a College Fund Bank Account ! ! !
